Art Director

As a part of the agency team, your main responsibility is conceptualizing and executing creative solutions that effectively communicate the strategic intent for each tactic within the assigned project. You will also work with outside partners to ensure timely and accurate execution of printed materials, digital assets, video, and brand experiences as required.

At Popskull, you’ll be expected to:

  • Conceive and execute advertising consistent with the agreed strategy across multiple platforms and tactics
  • Express the creative strategy and vision throughout experiential events—including installations, signage and branding, activations, communications, videos, content, and staging
  • Interact with Copywriters and other agency team members to develop creative concepts and executions
  • Advise client on all technical visual recommendations and/or issues
  • Assist with monitoring all phases of production and management of external partners
  • Develop and execute creative presentation decks
  • Assist with new business efforts

Here’s what you bring to the table:

  • 3+ years design experience in an agency setting with an emphasis on experiential/event marketing
  • A minimum of an associate’s degree in advertising, communication design, or visual arts. A bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and provide marketable solutions in conceiving, developing, and producing multiple tactics
  • Ability to concept within multiple platforms and develop meaningful brand experiences
  • An understanding of environments and interactives, both physical and digital
  • Mastery of composition techniques (multiple elements and interactive pieces) in producing polished final pieces
  • Excellence in using Adobe Creative suite
  • Comprehensive computer photo-retouching and image development skills
  • A demonstrated understanding of:
    • Color theory and color relationships
    • Typographic terms that identify type forms and the specifications required to refer to typographic settings (i.e., points, leading, picas, kerning, tracking, cap-height, x-height etc.)
    • Perspective and space relationships
    • Page composition and grid structures
    • Print production process, knowledge of production techniques, and correct disking procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Provide effective direction at photo and video shoots
    • Effectively check and approve work on press
    • Effectively collect electronic materials for output
    • Effectively handle multiple assignments at one time
    • Manage challenging situations both internally and with the client
  • Competitive spirit and working knowledge of several variations of board, card, and dice games
